The day for our departure to Africa is very near. Soon we’ll be on a plane headed to the unknown, and although we are currently buried in last minute preparations we are at peace. There is no question whether we should or should not go. Our assurance is rooted in what we sense the Holy Spirit, whom we trust, leading us to do. We’ve also witnessed the hand of God at work in our circumstances and we’ve been given confirmation from Him through His Word. His presence is unmistakable.
It is so amazing to see God clear the obstacles from our path. He took care of the house that we own in the States. He turned the hearts of His people to the Bible-less, leading them to give abundantly to support us and this mission. He even healed a medical condition that could have kept us from leaving. There is no doubt He is at work, and every time He clears the way we take a step, sometimes not even knowing where the next one will lead. It’s been quite an adventure. And yet we are human and prone to question if we are hearing Him correctly. We still find it hard to believe that He would choose us to help spread the gospel in Africa. In response we sought reassurance through His Word – asking God to give us a scripture that we could hold on to when doubt started to creep into our minds. He did.
All of these things together, the sense of peace and purpose, the ordering of our circumstances, and the scripture verses from the Lord let us know that we are on the right path. All we have to do is keep trusting God and moving forward. He’s in charge.
When you find yourself in a similar place, feeling the Holy Spirit leading you to do something but needing reassurance, look for God moving in your life. He will make himself known.
