Visitor Friendly Teton County Library PDF Print E-mail

library.jpgOver the course of our trip we haven’t been to many libraries because there are very few that will let us check out books.  If we’re going to leave home to read we prefer to do it at Barnes and Noble or a park.  I didn’t realize how much we missed our library at home (which has one of the best children’s department around) until we pulled into a campground directly across the street from the Teton County Library in Jackson, WY.  We, of course, had to check it out and soon found out that we could get visitor’s passes for $5 each (even the kids) and check out 4 items at a time.  They even gave us shipping labels to mail books back to them!  The kids were given their own Teton County library cards and were able to use the “self check out”, which they thought was fun.  I thought it was funny…both of the boys, when given the choice of exploring Jackson Hole or going to the library, chose the library.  Spending time in the library with them brought back many memories of home.  We used to meet our sign language tutor there and would end up staying hours every week after the lesson looking at books and playing on their computers .  I’ll be glad to get back to our library and you can be sure I'll be campaigning for a visitor’s policy similar to the one in Jackson.  We really appreciated their hospitality!

Our favorite book of the week: How to Train Your Dragon (Heroic Misadventures of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III) We listened to the audio book, which I highly recommend.  Very funny!  (currently being made into a movie)
