William "Buffalo Bill" Cody made the cowboy lifestyle famous with his Wild, Wild West show in the late 1800s. He also established the city of Cody, WY. Carrying on that tradition, the Cody Nite Rodeo entertains people from all over the world all summer long. Buffalo Bill would be proud.
This was our first rodeo. It started with bareback bronc riding, followed by saddleback bronc riding, then some roping. Later we saw barrel racing, steer wrestling, and at the end they brought the bulls out. Through the whole thing we were entertained by the rodeo clown, who had the boys cheering and giggling until their faces were bright red. They were still quoting him the next day. It was a whole new experience for us. One of the highlights for the boys...being allowed to get snacks from the concession stand (it's the little things that make life sweet). We rarely do that because it's so expensive, but every now and then you have to get crazy. Ahhh...cotton candy! Big chewy pretzels! 10 pounds! Memories. The boys are campaigning for cowboy hats and boots now. Guess they've caught the cowboy spirit. That's perfect, since we're studying westward expansion. Thanks Buffalo Bill. (Pictures in the gallery)
