Make a movie in your mind to remember the capital:
Picture a tennis player smashing a large pill over the net, instead of a ball.
Smash + pill = Nashville and tennis = Tennessee.
During the Mexican War there were 30,000 volunteers from the state of
Tennessee. The government only called for 2,800 volunteers. No wonder
Tennessee is called the Volunteer State!
Thanks to Daniel Boone and his Wilderness Road that began in Virginia
and cut through the rugged Cumberland Gap, many early pioneers traveled
the trail to Tennessee.

President. Fire destroyed much of the home at one time, but it was
rebuilt, and Jackson retired here. What is the name of this historic
home?
Answer: the Hermitage, Nashville
Where?
"Chat-to-to-noog-gee" is what the Creek Indians called Lookout
Mountain. It means "rock rising to a point." From its top, it is said
that you can see seven states on a clear dcay. Beneath the mountain
are underground caverns and waterfalls. Find Chattanooga, and see if
you can locate Lookout Mountain.

The Stars and Striped Game
Hurray for the red, white and blue! Identify things that are colored
red, white, or blue (example: red fire engine) or have red, white, or
blue in their name (example: blueberries). The object of the game is
to see who can think of the most reds, whites and blues, until only one
player is left. Only four seconds to think or you are out. The color
of the objects must be in sequence - first person names a red object,
second player a white, third names a blue, anext names a red, and so
on. Last one still in the game wins!
