While we were visiting Flagstaff we learned of a tour that went to the Grand Canyon. It's a train tour that leaves from Williams (an exit or two down from Flagstaff) and goes to the Grand Canyon. While on the train ride up to the Grand Canyon they do a pretend train robbery. Men coming riding up on horses and stop the train and come aboard with bandanas and all. My kids got a big kick out of it. Also in Williams we left from an historic train station. ck

Fun! A hold-up on a train ride is exactly the type of thing we're looking to do. I'll check into that and see if we'll make it to the Grand Canyon before it stops running. We may not get there before the North Rim closes, but we're hoping to. We'll see. Thanks for the suggestion!

That train ride is cool isn't it? My husband and I did that back in 1999 for his birthday since he was a train conductor. My dad lives in Prescott, and we were out there to get married and site see as a honeymoon. After we got married, we stayed in Laughlin NV, which is right on the Colorado river. There's some RV parks right across the river in AZ, and it's not far from Hoover Dam and Vegas. Might be an idea if you're already in the area. I imagine you're site seeing in AZ. Have you seen Brice Canyon? Or the Mugallon rim? (sp?) Such beautiful country!! I'm dying to get back there someday. Also check out the steak houses in Williams and Flag! They have some good ones!
