After looking at the many different ways that we could get ourselves around the country (motorhome, truck and fifth wheel trailer, truck and travel trailer, class C camper, etc) we settled on a truck and fifth wheel trailer. There were several reasons, but among the most important was that used fifth wheels cost far less than the used motorhomes we were considering and they offer a lot of living space, including separate bedrooms. So we began shopping. Then, over Thanksgiving, God informed us that He had a different plan.
When we decided to homeschool our boys it took my parents a little while to warm up to the idea. They, like many people, were initially afraid that the boys would be missing something and they often wanted to know how long we planned on doing it. Fortunately, although they initially questioned whether it was the best thing for their grandchildren, they have always supported our decision. But, I was still nervous to tell them about our trip plans. I felt sure that when I told them we were going to take their grandbabies around the country for a year they would try to have us committed. So it was a great surprise to us when my father's first question was, "Wouldn't this trip be easier in a motorhome?" "Yeah, Dad, but we can't afford it." I replied. Facts are facts.
Then he blew me away.
My parents had discussed it and decided to dip into their retirement fund to help us purchase a used motorhome! I was speechless. I think my husband thought I was being rude, but I was so stunned it didn't seem real. What an incredible show of support! They have really come around. And what an amazing God to give us things that we never asked for. All I could think was, WOW, God has provided us with a motorhome! He always goes way beyond my expectations!
So now we're shopping again, only this time we're searching for the right motorhome. We've narrowed it down to a particular model and there's a good reason. I'll tell you all about that (complete with pictures) once we find it.
