Lemonade Stand in Boise 3 Months, 1 Week ago
** This thread discusses the Content article: Lemonade Stand in Boise **

We had originally planned to travel through Montana, hoping to see Glacier National Park on our way to Seattle. But, a few things happened and our plan changed. Instead of driving through Montana, we decided to take the southern route to Seattle, through Idaho, by way of Boise. We were hoping to see a dear friend of mine in Salt Lake City. Unfortunately, our timing was off and that visit didn't happen, but we did get to see Boise. We caught up a little bit...did laundry, paid bills, swam and relaxed. When the boys realized that there was a Cabella's in town they really wanted to go. Mason had been saving for a certain cap gun, but Griffin was broke. He came up with the idea of setting up a lemonade stand to make some extra money and got Mason to agree to help him. We went to the office to ask permission.

Grif used his best manners to ask if he could set up his lemonade
stand, but the lady behind the desk said that would be considered
soliciting, and that wasn't allowed on the grounds. He was heartbroken
- even teared up as we left. Not wanted to see their entrepreneurial
spirits crushed, I suggested that they put their lemonade stand up at
an intersection 2 blocks away. Eyes lit up and they got busy. We made
lemonade and lemon tea, got cups and bought ice, painted a sign on top
of our folding table, made sure we had change, and then carried
everything to the corner. They were determined to make some money.

Their goal...$10 each. They were charging $1/cup. You should have
seen them out there, holding up their little signs that said $1. They
were walking along the sidewalk, waving and yelling, "Fresh lemonade!
Only $1! Get your fresh lemonade!" They had their first customer
within 5 minutes! I told them if they wanted to make sure their
customers were satisfied they had to show a little initiative...do something more than what was expected, and do it for free. So
with each cup they sold they decided to offer an extra
squirt of lemon juice, no charge. They were very impressed when they
got their first tip. In the end, our last customer of the day was
Daddy, which was great because we put all of our stuff in the
back of the van instead of carrying it home! The boys both returned to
the motorhome after about 2 hours of peddling lemonade with $8.20 and a
bright red sunburn (I forgot the sunscreen!) Good job guys! (Pictures in the gallery )
